The Administration’s goal was to identify intervention strategies that would promote connectivity, accessibility, and usability of the Green Axis north of Putignano and give a new identity and recognizability to some green areas, parks, and pedestrian paths along this axis, addressing the needs of citizens, social groups, and communities regarding spatial quality, improved urban settlements, and landscape protection.

The redevelopment proposal adopts an integrated strategy based on a multi-scalar understanding of territorial systems, ensuring consistency between the project and existing planning tools. The project coordinates traffic plans, pedestrian mobility, and the municipal strategic objectives, ensuring compatibility with the existing urban structure.
The Green Axis, approximately 6 km long, connects the main urban hubs—from Parco Grotte to the Station, crossing the urban avenues, the Arcipelago dei Parchi, and the former Autodromo area, all the way to the Ciclovia dell’Acquedotto—and serves as an ecological and social infrastructure. The route integrates squares, avenues, and courtyards, generating new connections between residential areas and shared green spaces, encouraging free use of the landscape.
The project envisions progressive actions to enhance existing systems related to sports, commerce, collective activities, and mobility, promoting a network of cycle/pedestrian paths and a new, slow-paced perception of the urban and rural landscape. The Green Axis thus becomes a strategic infrastructure for sustainable mobility and the environmental and social regeneration of Putignano.
